There seem to be a lot of wrong informations around, so I´ll try to clarify:
You can push *every* 320 up to 1GHz and beyond. You do *not* need Board rev.
007 or newer, even the old 006J does the job. There are some limitatations,
though:
First, You need PROM 1.1005 (actually the latest, and I doubt there will be
a newer release) because it´s the only PROM that contains Coppermine
support.
Second, if You want Dual-CPU You´re limited to 2xPIII 1GHZ in Slot1 version
(SECC2). These are the only CPU´s working in Dual configuration. If You
don´t need SMP You can use an Slot adapter (slotket) and are able to use
FCPGA PIII´s up to 1,1GHZ in single CPU configuration (be sure to get a
100MHz FSB CPU as most 133MHz FSB CPU´s simply refuse to boot, and since the
320 only gives 100MHz FSB You´d loose performance with 133MHz chips). If You
want more You can use an Tualatin slotadapter and use an Tualatin Celeron
with 1,3GHz. They´re cheap, and they´re pretty fast...
All this is doable with even 006J mobo´s, I had my PIII-1,1GHZ running on a
006J until I replaced it with a 007A, and I know a lot of machines with 006J
and CPU´s over 1GHz. If a FCPGA won´t run in a machine with 006J mobo and
latest PROM it´s mostly a shitty slot adapter, not all of them work
(especially the noname adapters seem to cause some problems, not only in SGI
320´s)...
So don´t be afraid of mobo changes or something like that...
